The BBQ Guru is a temperature control and monitor for charcoal and wood grills and pits. That's right! CONTROL for CHARCOAL and WOOD! The concept of The BBQ Guru was brought to life 4 years ago by Shotgun Fred Pirkle, a master of BBQ and Temperature Control. Intense research and development have paid off and a “BREAKTHROUGH in BBQ” has finally arrived!

This is almost a must have unit for your Backwoods Cooker, it brings SUPERIOR temperature and pit control, along with the ability to monitor your meat temp and take it off right when it reaches the right temperature. We sell the Competitor GURU model, which has two different monitoring probes, one for your pit that clips on the grid you are cooking on, then a meat probe which goes into the meat you are controlling. The GURU is equipped with an alarm system that goes off when you hit your meat temp, or when your pit either falls 25 degrees below or rises to 25 degrees above your pit set point. This is a handy unit that Backwoods STRONGLY recommends to raise the level of your cooking to competition quality.
The guru base unit controls a fan that is connected to your fire box through an induction tube. The base unit reads the temperature you have set for your pit, then caluculates how much air to blow into your fire box to get the heat level in your pit just right. When your pit reaches the desired temp, the guru goes into maintain mode, "puffing" your firebox once every two to three seconds to maintain the right temperature.
