Ribs in a chubby/party

Postby ButchB » Mon May 14, 2012 8:17 pm

Will racks of ribs fit w/o trimming? Like 3 racks to a shelf? Trying to decide on a cooker and seems like it might be a tight fit? Thanks

No. Baby backs, 1 per shelf angled. If you want to put them straight in you will have to cut about 3 bones off. Spare ribs, St. Louis cut 2 per shelf if they are not to big.

Old Dave just posted a clever method of making packers fit in a party by curving them with a beer (empty) can underneath to gain the couple inches needed. The same should work for ribs on a chubby. You could also use the wsm method for getting 6 or so racks on by rolling them into a ring and skewer to keep them that way.
