Just as I'm new to my Fatboy specifically and BWS in general, I'm new to the Guru. Love it.
After the first couple of smokes, it seemed the only weakness with my DigiQ was the lack of wireless communication. So I ran my old ET-73 along with it, and that made life easier.
Then I bought a new ET-732 which has much better range. I can read the temps from anywhere in the house, or even to the end of the block. The Guru + Maveric combo looks kludgy with lots of wires running into the box, and might not have the functionality of a Stoker + Network Bridge + Computer or even a wi-fi Guru, but it's a relatively cheap, and non-tempramental solution.
Besides, I don't need the net to change my temps. For that, I'll walk to the patio.
Even with both pit probes monitoring the pit, the combo still gives an extra meat probe. Not quite like getting a Bentley for Christmas, but nice nonetheless.
Compare "Honey, I just spent an extra $600 so I could watch football without getting up every twenty minutes," with "It was only $60." I think the second has more of a ring.
