Brand new Party

Postby baldguy » Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:41 pm

New party owner here. Picked it up Wednesday 8/11/10 from the dealer in Jonesboro Arkansas. Still experimenting with vent settings to maintain temp control. So far I think the competition briquettes seem to burn more consistently than lump. Seem to spread the fire more evenly, but then it might just be my imagination.
So far 1 chicken, 1 Butt, 1 wild duck (Mallard) and a big slab of bologna. All turned out great! I am having big fun!!

Welcome to the forum. You are going to love your Party. Search will be your friend on the BWS forum. Search for anything you need to know, if you don't find it, ask away.

Welcome Baldguy!

Congrats on the new Party. I came from cooking on a BGE (still do) and using lump charcoal exclusively, but I agree with you. Briquettes seem to give me a longer more consistent burn than lump does. I like Stubbs All Natural Briquettes. I haven't tried the Kingsford Competition Briquette but plan to.

Cheers,

I believe that the Party is one of the best smokers that BWS has for sell. You will love it and soon have it mastered. As others have already stated, stick with all hardwood briquettes. They will give you the best results.
