First cook on the Party

Postby jrkahuna » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:25 am

So I took the Party for a spin today. Worked from home so I had time to give it a run. Got it to 225 and put the meat on, but it wanted to cook at 250 even with both baffles closed. I will have to play with it some more to try to keep it at 225. I cooked beef ribs and they turned out awesome. Cooked them for five hours and still had plenty of coals left. I followed some advice and lined the water pan with tin foil then used a foil pan for the water. Made cleanup a breeze and the water never even came close to needing refilling. Compared to the POS I was using from Home Depot (always needed to refill water and couldn't control temp) this was a dream. Still have some tweaking to do before my big Fourth of July party but for my first run I am pretty pleased. Anyone thinking of getting a Chubby instead of the Party, I say pull the trigger on the party and get a stand. You will like the extra room and it was awesome not having to bend over to tend the charcoal.

I wish I would have taken pictures of the ribs, but they looked so good, I couldn't wait to eat them. Maybe next time.
