gasket leaks

Postby desertdog » Wed Jan 11, 2012 5:54 pm

The gasket on my chubby leaks in one small area of the upper left hand side of the door. Is there a way to fix it other than replacing the gasket? Is it necessary to replace the entire gasket? Where might I find the proper gasket material?
THANKS

You can buy the replacement gasket from Backwoods or your local distributor. They are pretty easy to replace.

And it keeps the nosies from opening the door to have a look, ROTFL.

On a more serious note, the door might be tweaked just a little. Put a short piece of 2X4 on the other corner and push on the offending corner...be gentle we don't want to get carried away. See if that helps if not it may need a new gasket.

first try adjusting your chimney draft. if smoke is coming out of the door then you probably have the chimney closed off too much. If not then you may have wind blowing down your chimney affecting your draft.

I had this problem and ended up putting a small diameter metal washer as a shim in the latch mechanism to make the door fit tighter. Closed the leak right up.

I am looking to get a BW Chubby in the next few months and I currently already the IQ110. My question to you Over Dunn is where did you get the adapter for the Chubby or did you make it?
